EMDR

at Reverie

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, body-based therapy that helps you reprocess painful memories so they no longer run the show. It’s a way to gently unhook from trauma, not by reliving the past, but by transforming the way your brain and body hold it.

At Reverie, we don’t believe in rushing or forcing healing. EMDR allows your system to process pain at your own pace—honoring your inner wisdom, while clearing the stuck places that keep you in cycles of fear, shame, or self-abandonment.

EMDR is based on the idea that your nervous system wants to heal—and sometimes just needs support getting there. Using bilateral stimulation (often through eye movements or tapping), we activate your brain’s natural healing process while you gently revisit distressing memories, sensations, or beliefs.

But unlike talk therapy, EMDR doesn’t require you to explain or retell everything. You don’t have to analyze or make it make sense. Your body already knows the way.

What is EMDR, really?

The past loses its grip.
The body exhales.
The Self returns.

Think of it as trauma alchemy:

At Reverie, we use EMDR to support healing in areas like:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Anxiety, panic, and chronic fear

  • Body image and disordered eating

  • Shame and self-worth wounds

  • Oppression-based trauma (sizeism, queerphobia, racism, ableism)

  • Negative core beliefs (e.g., I’m not enoughI’m too muchI don’t belong)

  • Grief, heartbreak, and life transitions

We often combine EMDR with somatic awareness, relational depth, and spiritual insight to support holistic integration. You are more than your trauma—and EMDR can help you return to the fullness of who you are.

How can EMDR help?

What to expect in EMDR sessions:

EMDR isn’t one-size-fits-all. We move at the pace of your body—not the clock. Here’s a glimpse of what our work might look like:

  1. Preparation: We build a solid foundation of trust, safety, and resourcing. You’ll learn tools to regulate your nervous system and stay grounded before we ever go into trauma processing.

  2. Targeting: We identify the memories, images, or beliefs that feel like knots in your system—and we gently begin to loosen them.

  3. Reprocessing: With bilateral stimulation, we invite your brain to "digest" the unprocessed material and make new meaning. You’re fully conscious and in control, with support every step of the way.

  4. Integration: We explore what’s shifted. We tend to what still needs care. We make space for your growth, clarity, and self-trust.

You don’t

have to carry this

forever.

EMDR offers a path toward relief, repair, and return.
Return to your body.
Return to your truth.
Return to your life.

If you’re curious about how EMDR might support your healing, I’d love to explore it with you.
